Los Angeles, CA, December 18, 2009 – Beginning in 2010, Par Avion will head down the runway with fashion retail market leader Business Journals, Inc. (www.busjour.com) They are slated to handle the convention housing programs for all seven of BJI’s events in the fashion capital of the United States, New York City.
Business Journals, Inc. is a fourth-generation, family-owned and managed business media company is responsible for a portfolio of highly successful events for retail buyers, including Accessories TheShow, FAME, Moda and MRket. Despite closures of many retail outlets across the nation, these shows continue to gain prominence and actually increased their attendance in 2009.
BJI trade events vary significantly in focus and attract specialty buyers from around the world. Accessories TheShow (www.accessoriestheshow.com) is the only juried, all-accessory event in the United States. FAME (www.fameshows.com) showcases junior and young contemporary clothes and footwear. Buyers who are hungry for a high-end mix of ready-to-wear women’s apparel—from elegant, night-on-the-town fashions to modern activewear—look no further than Moda (www.modamanhattan.com). Finally, MRket (www.mrketshow.com) features more than 110 upscale menswear collections from classic to contemporary. The buyers that attend these events are NYC regulars and present a unique challenge for Par Avion.
“BJI was looking for a new approach to its housing/travel program. We needed a tailored program to stimulate and capture an audience that travels often to NYC and has developed many of their own preferences that range greatly,” commented Sharon Enright, vice president of the Trade Show Division at BJI. “After meeting with Par Avion, we felt they had the best personnel, tools and attitude to create a program that would meet our needs.”
According to Par Avion’s President & CEO Toby Brenner, they have already instituted a plan to increase the percentage of exhibitors and attendees who book their hotel and travel through the event. “We love a challenge and are committed to handling the housing arrangements for an unprecedented number of BJI convention-goers,” said Brenner.
Enright stated that BJI is very pleased with its decision to turn to Par Avion to revitalize its convention housing. “Par Avion is extremely knowledgeable and motivated,” she said. “They listen well and work in concert with our staff to ensure they are meeting the needs of our buyers and exhibitors. They have a fantastic attitude and innovative thinking, which is paramount in today’s economy.”
